Just wrapped a pretty extensive shoot/edit for house music mad men DJ’s Codes and Craze for their new Slow Roast Records release “Deeper”.
Motiongraff crew put this Scion branded video together and brought me in to direct. From dark n dirty warehouses to mansions in Jersey, from ultra-mod locations in Soho to Lamborghini’s in LIC, we went to town on this one.
Featuring my usual mix of still photos and video, I also wanted to work with multi screens and play with different composition in the super wide “Vistavision” aspect ratio I like to work in.
Paying homage to great Canadian director, Norman Jewison’s “Thomas Crowne Affair” feature from the 70′s
Fubz and myself were joined in the Camera department by Viktor Vokjan ( awesome film maker visiting NYC from Prague ) and covered each shot/each scene with about 5 different cameras ( hand held, tripod, camera slider, wheelchair dolly, car mounts, security cams, POV cams… ).
Viktor even went on screen to play our Bad Guy in the Mansion. Somatik managed to wrangle the data for us on set, rig POV cameras and not a frame was lost!
Thanks to Obscure Object Films regulars for coming out to make this video. Masha Gvozdov added her majik in hair/makeup and Toni Hacker put the looks together for our beautiful models. Tal Shpantzer got our casting going and Serge from Motiongraff kept the ball rolling as exec. producer.
This video went through a pretty long journey from a full 6.5 minute to the 4 minute edit posted here ( expect a director’s cut to come out soon! )
